Introduction

The Associate Degree in Computer Science program is offered by Department of Computer Science at UIT University, Karachi. The prime focus of the program is to equip individuals with the practical and fundamental aspects of Computer Science for an earlier career start within the industry.

Rationale and Need

Computing technology is one of the most penetrative and rapidly evolving technologies. Growing digitalization of equipment, automation of business processes, and rising user base of computing resources, all have led to increasing demand of computer-based solutions. This has also led to increasing demand of computing workforce who can handle basic computing operations. The current requirement is for individuals within the workforce that can target their domain early in the career and acquire enough domain knowledge to become an effective part of the industry. The Associate Degree in Computer Science will prepare individuals for an early career start. However, will provide them with enough fundamental and domain specific knowledge to perform will within the industry.

Admission Eligibility

The minimum requirement for admission is as follows:

• At least 50% marks in Intermediate (HSC) examination with Mathematics or equivalent qualification with Mathematics.
• Students with HSC equivalent will have to pass deficiency courses of Mathematics of 6 credit hours within one year of their regular studies.
