Mentor Organization in Google Summer of Code 2024
We're thrilled to announce that four outstanding undergraduate students from the Micro Electronics Research Lab (MERL) at UIT University have been selected for the prestigious Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2024! A huge congratulations to Muddassir Ali, Syed Hassan Ul Haq, Hamna Mohiuddin, and Muhammad Latif for their remarkable achievement. GSoC is a highly competitive global program that offers students the opportunity to contribute to open-source projects under the guidance of top developers, and being selected is a testament to the talent and hard work of these exceptional students.
This achievement is not only a personal milestone for Muddassir, Syed, Hamna, and Muhammad, but also a significant accomplishment for MERL. The lab has always been committed to nurturing the brightest minds in Pakistan, offering students cutting-edge research opportunities and hands-on experience in microelectronics and related fields. MERL’s ongoing mission to promote technological innovation and develop homegrown talent continues to bear fruit as these students prepare to represent both UIT University and Pakistan on a global stage. Their participation in GSoC underscores the increasing visibility of Pakistani talent in international technology arenas.
The Google Summer of Code program provides an incredible platform for students to work on real-world open-source projects, collaborate with experienced mentors, and make meaningful contributions to the tech community. We are excited to announce that four of our talented researchers from the Micro Electronics Research Lab (MERL) at UIT University have been selected for the prestigious Google Summer of Code (GSoC) this year! A big congratulations to Abdul Muheet Ghani and Qurrat ul Ain Alam from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Batch-19B, and Mahnoor Ismail and Shahzaib Kashif from the Department of Computer Science, Batch-18B. Their remarkable achievement is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the high level of research excellence fostered at MERL.
The Google Summer of Code is an internationally renowned program that connects students with open-source software organizations, offering them the opportunity to work on real-world projects under the mentorship of experienced developers. This incredible accomplishment puts our students on the global tech map and highlights the growing talent at UIT University. Mentor Organization in Google Summer of Code 2022
We are delighted to announce that five talented individuals from the Micro Electronics Research Lab (MERL) at Usman Institute of Technology – University (UITU) have been selected as contributors for the prestigious Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2022! This year’s participants include Miss Rameen Anwar, Kinza Qamar Zaman, Nameer Iqbal Ansari, Nimra Khan, and Talha Ahmed. Their hard work and dedication have earned them the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects with globally renowned organizations. This incredible achievement speaks volumes about their commitment to excellence and the high standards of research fostered at MERL.
Miss Rameen Anwar, who serves as a Physical Design Engineer at MERL and as a Junior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering at UIT University, will be contributing to the "Fault Silicon Validation and Open MPW Integration" project for the Free Open Source Silicon (FOSSI) Foundation. Alongside her, Kinza Qamar Zaman, a final-year Computer Systems Engineering student and Research Intern at MERL, has been selected to work on the "TinyParrot: A Minimal Blackparrot RISC-V Multicore Variant" project, also for the FOSSI Foundation.
Furthering the legacy of MERL, Nameer Iqbal Ansari, a third-year Electronic Engineering student, will contribute to the project "Add FuseSoC support at SoC level for Azadi-SoC and Rebase IBEX Core with latest commit" under the mentorship of the MERL-UITU organization. Nimra Khan, another third-year Electronic Engineering student and Research Intern at MERL, has been selected to work on the "Demos and Tutorials" project for the University of California’s Center for Research in Open Source Software (UC-CROSS). Additionally, Talha Ahmed, a final-year Software Engineering student at UIT University, will be contributing to the "Register File Generator" project for UC-CROSS.
The Google Summer of Code provides students with a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience by working with leading open-source organizations under the guidance of expert mentors. For these selected contributors, GSoC 2022 is not only a prestigious accomplishment but also a stepping stone toward shaping their futures in the tech industry. Their participation highlights the immense talent nurtured at MERL and the dedication to fostering innovation and research excellence at UIT University.
