Overview

UIT University invites application for the position of “IT Lab Incharge” in the Information Technology Department. This position is responsible for managing and maintaining the computer labs to ensure an optimal learning environment for students and a functional workspace for faculty. This role involves software installation, hardware upkeep, network maintenance, and support for both faculty and students.

Specific Skills
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking systems.
  • Quick and efficient resolution of technical or operational issues.
  • Ensuring system configurations, updates, and adherence to security protocols.
  • Must be able to communicate.
Responsible For
  • To install, configure, and maintain software on all lab computers.
  • To manage student profiles and provide support for account-related issues.
  •  Regularly update software to meet course requirements and ensure compliance with security protocols.
  • To maintain the lab’s network infrastructure, including troubleshooting network connectivity issues, ensure that all essential equipment, such as UPS systems and printers, is in good working order.
  • To monitor lab computers, ensuring smooth operation and addressing technical issues as they arise.
  • To oversee inventory management, keeping records of all lab equipment and furniture. Conduct regular inspections to identify and document maintenance needs for lab furniture and equipment.
  • To maintain up-to-date records and documentation of software, equipment, and inventory.
  • To prepare inspection reports and communicate any issues to the relevant departments for prompt resolution.
  • Follow up on reported issues to ensure timely and effective solutions.
  • To assist faculty in setting up and managing lab resources for classes and examinations.
  • To provide students with support in resolving computer-related issues encountered in the lab.
  • To ensure a conducive environment for students and faculty, offering prompt assistance when required.

Qualification & Experience Requirements
  • Graduate / Inter with relevant courses and/or diploma.
  • Proven experience in computer or IT lab management is preferred.
  • Strong technical skills in software installation, network troubleshooting, and system maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to support both faculty and students.
  • Must have 1-2 years’ relevant experience preferably of educational institution.
