Overview
UIT University (UITU) invites application for the position of “Dean Faculty of Management & Social Sciences (FMSS)” who will be responsible for providing administrative leadership, direction, and evaluation for all academic activities of the department. This is a senior management position reporting to the Provost and requires overall coordination with teaching and administrative departments to ensure the University’s academic excellence and strategic goals.
Specific Skills
- Excellent strategic thinking, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills and abilities.
- Familiarity with the accreditation processes of different regulatory bodies, academic program development, fund-raising and grant writing expertise will be preferred.
Responsible For
- Faculty Development
- Assess the training and development needs of all full-time faculty members.
- Plan and implement teaching assignments for full-time and adjunct faculty.
- Responsible for conducting regular evaluations of full-time faculty and ensuring that adjunct faculty are evaluated in accordance with University procedures.
- Administer the approved academic policies and procedures applicable to the faculty and departments under the Faculty of Management & Social Sciences. Also ensure these policies are properly communicated and updated as needed to reflect institutional or regulatory changes.
- Advise department heads on faculty recruitment, development, and utilization within the framework of the University.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of teaching delivery methods.
- Foster collaborative relationships with faculty, administrators, and staff across divisions and departments; act ethically and contribute to cohesive team building.
- Promote a research culture by encouraging faculty engagement in research, publications, consultancy, and participation in conferences.
- Facilitate research collaboration with industry, government, NGOs, and academic institutions (local and international).
- Ensure research output aligns with national needs and institutional priorities, contributing to the University's reputation.
- Explore grants, donations, and funding opportunities to support academic development and research.
- Program Development & Departmental Planning
- Liaise regularly with the Provost, Chairperson, Registrar and other relevant personnel to plan for upcoming academic sessions, including course offerings, faculty deployment, and associated academic activities.
- Ensure academic quality and compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., HEC, NBEAC, other accreditation bodies).
- Manage enrollment to optimize faculty workloads and the use of space resources (classrooms and labs), utilizing data-driven tools for effective academic planning.
- Provide academic leadership to ensure excellence in teaching and learning. Direct, manage, and supervise programs and activities under the Faculty of Management & Social Sciences.
- Organization & Communication
- Communicate and report relevant matters to the Provost and the Vice Chancellor.
- Supervise the allocation and usage of departmental space, facilities, and equipment, including classrooms.
- Contribute to the formulation and implementation of UIT University’s policies and regulations.
- Oversee the retention and archiving of all editions of the academic prospectus.
- Represent UIT at local corporate events, seminars, and conferences; enhance UIT’s brand image and explore promotional opportunities.
- Student Administration & Development
- Ensure the effective allocation of courses to faculty.
- Ensure that a balanced and appropriate offering of courses is made each term at all levels, in coordination with faculty and relevant administrators.
- Refer cases of student indiscipline to the Discipline Committee and act on recommendations after approval or consultation with the Director UIT.
- Provide general student counseling regarding admissions, registration, financial issues, and credit transfer.
- Examinations & Related Activities
- Oversee the planning, monitoring, and execution of Mid-Semester and Final Examinations to ensure smooth conduct.
- Coordinate with the Controller of Examinations at Hamdard University / NED University to resolve student matters related to degree issuance, transcripts, etc.
- Ensure all students appearing for examinations have cleared dues, meet attendance requirements, and have obtained departmental clearance.
- Make necessary arrangements for graduates to attend the University’s convocation and maintain liaison with the University for related formalities.
- Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Provide strategic direction to the Faculty of Management & Social Sciences in alignment with the University’s mission, vision, and long-term goals.
- Develop and implement strategic academic plans, ensuring continuous improvement and innovation in curriculum, pedagogy, and program offerings.
- Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and integration of emerging trends (e.g., digital transformation, sustainability, data analytics, and entrepreneurship) in program development.
- To undertake direct and indirect assignments related to the role as entrusted by Reporting Head/Competent Authority.

Qualification & Experience Requirements
- PhD or equivalent local or foreign qualification (preferably in Management Sciences, Business Administration or relevant discipline) meeting HEC criteria for the position of Professor.
- Minimum 15 years’ relevant professional & teaching experience with at least 5 years of proven academic leadership experience or higher position in the higher educational institutions (HEIs).
