Reduce inequality within and among countries

SDG Goal 10, "Reduced Inequalities", aims to reduce inequalities within and among countries. It focuses on eliminating discriminatory practices, promoting social, economic, and political inclusion for all, irrespective of age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion, or economic status. This goal seeks to ensure equal opportunities for all individuals and communities to participate fully in economic, social, and political life. By addressing inequalities in income, resources, and opportunities, SDG 10 aims to create a more just and equitable world, fostering sustainable development and strengthening social cohesion globally.

Statistics of Pakistan

Economic Inequality

A significant disparity in wealth and income persists in Pakistan. The top 1% of farmers own more than 20% of the farmland, highlighting severe inequality in land distribution. Approximately 40% of Pakistan's population lives in poverty, with economic inequality exacerbated by the elite's dominance over politics, industry, and the economy

The national average income growth is 9.6%, while the bottom 40% of the population experiences a slower growth rate of 7.4%. Regional Disparities

Regional disparities also fuel social instability. Legislative and Policy Measures

Pakistan has introduced various laws and policies to tackle inequality, such as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Lissaail-e-Wal Mahroom Foundation (Amendment) Act 2016 and the Balochistan Persons with Disabilities Act 2017. Policies focused on education, healthcare, and socioeconomic welfare are in place, but their on-ground impact has been limited​.

Gender and Social Inequalities

Efforts to address gender inequality include the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act.
