Engr. Farhan Ahmed Karim

Dr. Engr. Farhan Ahmed Karim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at UIT University. He also serves as the Team Lead of the Micro Electronics Research Laboratory (MERL) and Manager (Research & Development) at the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), UIT University.

He is actively engaged in teaching, research, innovation, and academic leadership, with a focus on semiconductor technologies, artificial intelligence, advanced computing, and hardware-software integration. His work emphasizes practical engineering solutions and the development of advanced technological capabilities.

As Team Lead of MERL, he has contributed to establishing an academic ecosystem for open-source semiconductor education and research, including activities in RISC-V processor design, System-on-Chip (SoC) development, RTL design, FPGA prototyping, hardware verification, and open-source EDA workflows.

As Manager (Research & Development) at ORIC, he contributes to strengthening the university’s research ecosystem through interdisciplinary research, innovation, technology commercialization, and industry-academia partnerships.
