Engr. Dr. Rana Javed Masood

Dr. Rana Javed Masood is an experienced academic, researcher, and industry professional with over 17 years of expertise in electrical, electronics, and control engineering. At UIT University, Karachi, he serves as Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Engineering Technology Department, contributing to academic leadership, curriculum development, and the effective implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) practices.
His expertise includes industrial automation, control systems, model-free adaptive control, and intelligent system design. He is proficient in PLC programming (Siemens and Allen Bradley), embedded systems, microcontrollers, and simulation tools, including MATLAB/Simulink, Proteus, LabVIEW, Multisim, PSpice, and SCADA-based simulation environments. His teaching approach emphasizes applied learning, modern laboratory development, and alignment of academic outcomes with industry requirements.
He also brings valuable industry experience as an R&D Engineer in China and Pakistan, where he worked on advanced systems, including flight motion simulators and industrial automation solutions.
In addition to his academic and research roles, he actively contributes to academic quality assurance, professional development initiatives, and activities aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He has also contributed to international academic collaboration through the Erasmus+ mobility program, participating in faculty and student exchange, joint academic activities, and collaborative initiatives with partner universities, supporting the integration of global best practices into engineering education.
