Faculty Profile

Ms. Fatima Shakeel is a dedicated academic and software engineering educator with over eight years of progressive experience in higher education, specializing in programming paradigms, software design, and software development methodologies. She currently serves as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at UIT University, Karachi.

Her association with UIT University began in 2019 as Junior Lecturer, followed by her appointment as Lecturer in 2021 and Senior Lecturer in 2024. Before joining UIT University, she served as a Lab Assistant at DHA Suffa University, gaining valuable experience in laboratory instruction and student mentoring.

Her teaching portfolio encompasses core areas of software engineering, including Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Software Design and Architecture, Software Construction and Development, Software Engineering, and Software Re-engineering. She emphasizes conceptual clarity, hands-on problem solving, and industry-relevant practices to help students develop strong technical foundations.

Beyond classroom instruction, Ms. Shakeel serves as a Final Year Project (FYP) Supervisor and Course Coordinator. She is also actively engaged in NCEAC-related accreditation activities and serves as a faculty advisor for the Google Developers Group on Campus, UIT University, supporting students in emerging technologies, open-source initiatives, and collaborative development practices.

Her academic research focuses on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, specifically classification. She is committed to continuous learning, student-centred instruction, experiential education, and preparing students with the technical depth, professional ethics, and adaptability required in today’s dynamic software industry.
