Faculty Profile

Shayan Hassan Baig is a computer science researcher and educator specializing in computer architecture, with a focus on RISC-V processor design, hardware verification, and System-on-Chip (SoC) emulation. He has contributed to open-source hardware development and combines theoretical computer architecture with practical systems-level software integration.

At the Micro Electronics Research Lab (MERL-UITU), he has worked on the design and verification of the NucleusRV core, SoC prototyping using Chipyard, and the porting of machine learning applications to Zephyr RTOS on FPGA hardware.

He has also contributed to international open-source hardware initiatives through the LFX Mentorship program, progressing from a mentee to a project mentor. His work reflects a strong interest in open-source hardware, processor design, hardware-software integration, and emerging computing technologies.
