SDG Goal 16, "Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions," aims to promote peaceful and inclusive societies, provide access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels. This goal highlights the need to reduce violence, combat corruption, and ensure the rule of law. By fostering transparent and responsive institutions, enhancing public access to information, and protecting fundamental freedoms, Goal 16 seeks to build societies where all individuals can live free from fear and violence, contributing to sustainable development and the reduction of inequality globally.

Corruption Perception Index

Pakistan ranks 140 out of 180 countries on the Corruption Perception Index 2023, with a score of 28/100, indicating a high level of perceived corruption in the public sector.

Rule of Law Index

According to the World Justice Project's Rule of Law Index 2022, Pakistan ranks 130 out of 140 countries, reflecting challenges in law enforcement, access to justice, and protection of fundamental rights.

Homicide Rate

The homicide rate in Pakistan was reported to be 3.8 per 100,000 people in 2021. While this represents a decline from previous years, it remains a concern for public safety and security.

Access to Justice

Only 30% of Pakistan's population has access to formal justice systems, with significant disparities in rural areas and among marginalized groups.

Human Rights Violations

In 2022, Pakistan had documented over 3,800 cases of human rights violations, including extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and restrictions on freedom of expression.

Freedom of Information
