The Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) at UIT University conducted a two-hour workshop titled “From Research Idea to Research Paper: AI-Assisted Literature Review and Zotero for Effective Research Management.” The session focused on equipping participants with practical knowledge and tools to strengthen their research skills, organize academic resources, and improve the process of developing research ideas into scholarly papers.

The workshop was led by Dr. Nida Masroor, Assistant Professor, Department of Management & Social Sciences, UIT University. Through practical guidance, the session introduced participants to key stages of academic research, including developing research ideas, conducting literature reviews, organizing relevant studies, and managing references efficiently.

A key component of the workshop was the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to support literature review matrix development. Participants gained insights into how AI-assisted tools can help organize research literature and structure information for more effective analysis. The session also covered Zotero, a reference management tool that helps researchers collect, organize, and cite scholarly sources, supporting a more systematic research workflow.

By combining AI-assisted research techniques with reference management practices, the workshop highlighted practical approaches to improving research organization, citation accuracy, and academic writing preparation. These skills are valuable for researchers and academics seeking to manage scholarly sources efficiently and develop well-structured research papers.

Through initiatives such as this workshop, ORIC at UIT University continues to promote research capacity building, academic development, and the effective use of digital tools in scholarly work. The session reinforced the importance of structured research practices and provided participants with practical approaches to progress from an initial research idea to a well-organized literature review and, ultimately, a research paper.
